French women in the mid 1700s wore pockets tied around their waist over their petticoats but under the skirts of their robes. These pockets served the purpose of carrying their personal belongings, much like carrying a purse today. The pockets were embroidered in beautiful designs. Most commonly in the Illinois Country the pockets were made of linen embroidered with crewel threads made from worsted wool. This designed is based off an original from the book 18th Century Embroidery Techniques by Gail Marsh.

There will be a $6.00 shipping fee added at checkout. Thank you!
